Loud Tour Features Rihanna, Cee-Lo & J. Cole
Roc Nation's J. Cole will get plenty of exposure this summer opening for Rihanna.
North Carolina's J. Cole will join fellow Roc Nation representative and R&B star Rihanna on this summer's Loud Tour. They will be joined by emcee/crooner Cee-Lo Green as they trek across North America for 28 shows in less than two months.
J. Cole was expected to release his debut album this spring but there has been no word of a release date yet.

Lil Wayne Talks Alcohol-Free Probation, Early Retirement
Having been denied any drugs or alcohol, Lil Wayne explains life after prison and his hope to retire in seven years at age 35.
Part of Lil Wayne’s post-prison probation calls for a provision that prohibits him from consuming or drinking “any substances containing alcohol” for three years. It’s a change for Wayne, who has been seen for years carrying a pair of Styrofoam cups filled with what is usually a mix of codeine and promethazine. While Wayne joked with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez
that his court-enforced sobriety leaves him with little use for his sunglasses, he said it was more difficult to adjust to other things behind bars.“The hardest part about it was just coming from the life we live…coming from having a chauffer, masseuse, this that and the third. That’s why it’s different for everybody that goes,” Wayne said.
During Wayne’s nine-month stay on Rikers Island, his Young Money artists Drake and Nicki Minaj enjoyed continued success. He explained that their accomplishments were expected, and hoped for continued success as part of a larger plan for himself.”
“People think when you say work hard it’s just, ‘Okay let me put two extra hours in.’” Wayne added. “No, this is my life. That’s why retiring at 35 would be a life lived, because this music thing is my life. I want their singles to be hotter than mine. That’s why Nicki comes out after me. It’s all part of a plan.”

Snoop Dogg Honors 213 Bandmate Nate Dogg With Memorial Tattoo
After the shocking news of Nate Dogg's death two weeks ago, the Doggfather honors his bandmate and 25-plus year friend with some arm ink.
Long Beach, California emcee Snoop Dogg revealed that he has mourned the loss of longtime friend, 213 bandmate Nate Dogg with an arm tattoo, pictured to the right. Last week, Nate (born Nathaniel Hale) died after a series of strokes in the last three years.
Along with a tribute concert a week ago today in Austin, Texas' South By Southwest, Snoop Dogg has already publicly and financially supported the Nate Dogg Foundation, to aid the singer's family.
Below the tattoo portrait of Nate is text that reads, "All Doggs Go To Heaven."
Although Snoop and Nate reportedly met as classmates in 1986, it was in the early 1990s that Snoop Dogg, Warren G and Nate Dogg began a group called 213. The trio worked together through to Snoop's signing with Death Row Records, where Nate would also sign later in the decade. Throughout the years the members of 213 worked on each other's projects, and in 2004, released The Hard Way on TVT Records.

Turk Planning to Start Label Upon Prison Release
The Hot Boys' Turk is planning to start a new record label upon his release from prison.
Even though he's been incarcerated for the past decade, Hot Boys member Turk is already planning his comeback upon release. Sources close to the former Cash Money rapper told AllHipHop.com that he is planning to start a new label after his bid in the bing is through.
"Turk will be released very soon and he has his own label, YNT," said a representative for Turk. "He does look forward to a Hot Boy Reunion but there is no truth in rumors of him signing at this time. Turk is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting a Memphis S.W.A.T. team member in 2004. DX will keep you updated about news of Turk's release.
Curren$y Talks Warner Bros Deal, Upcoming Movie
Curren$y talked to Complex about his Warner Brothers record deal and upcoming movie project.
Complex recently caught up with one of Hip Hop's biggest budding stars Curren$y to discuss his numerous upcoming projects, including his Covert Coupe EP with the Alchemist and his fifth album Muscle Car Chronicles, due out May 5. During the interview, Curren$y discussed his record deal with Warner Brothers. He said that while he was at first hesitant to sign with a major label, he is confident in Warners's vision for his music.
"They reached out just based on what I had been doing independently," said Spitta. "I think I proved to a few companies that I was going to be a machine regardless, whether I aligned myself with a machine or not, I was going to become a machine. The companies that did step to the table, I never thought I’d be able to maintain my independence and my underground soul of how I do my shit. Just talking to Warner Brothers, they let me know they only wanted to deal with me based on what I had already done. So they would only want me to keep doing that."
Curren$y also spoke about his relationship with his current label BlueRoc's CEO Damon Dash. Although he said that Dame wasn't involved in securing his latest contract, the two are still on good terms.
"[Dame Dash wasn’t involved with this deal], but that’s my homie," he said. "We got dealings on this Muscle Car Chronicles, but as far as the Warner deal, that was all me and my manager’s doing. But BlueRoc’s success is not contingent on if I’m still there. Nothing happens to my old label. They’re fine, they doing what they doing."
Spitta also spoke about his foray into film with his upcoming flick Muscle Car Chronicles. Inspired by his impending album of the same name, the film follows the story of a home burglarizing birthday clown on the road to musical stardom. Although Curren$y made his film debut in 2005 with Master P's Still Bout It, he says working on this latest project was a new experience.
"We also got the movie, Muscle Car Chronicles," he explained. "It’s a short film, the playing time might be a little over 30 minutes. Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah [of Channel Zero]—they shot a version of ‘Jesus Walks’ with Kanye and they’re partners with Dame on Creative Control—they directed and wrote the movie. [They heard the album] and just started scribbling the script. They had the movie [planned out], so when I got there they were like, ‘Let’s do this. We could pull it off in three days.’ So once they told me it would only take three days, I was like fuck it. Let’s see if we can do it.
"The movie is a cornucopia of cinematography inspired by Muscle Car Chronicles. In the movie, my name is Melvin and it’s me and this chick driving around in a Winnebago and dressing up as birthday clowns. We come to kid’s houses and do one-two steps with the balloons and shit, but we also burglarize the homes. But that money is to fund my musical takeover. I was in some Master P movies before. I was in Still Bout It counting money and talking like a gangster. But I’m still new to movies."

HTC Arrive (Sprint)
The bad: The HTC Arrive's heavy and bulky body will weigh some people down, and it requires some pressure to slide open the keyboard. Its camera could be better, and we were hoping for 4G WiMax support.
The bottom line: The HTC Arrive, Sprint's first Windows 7 phone, is a solid effort that largely delivers, although it will disappoint those looking for a 4G smartphone.

Jordan Fly Wade “Infrared”
Check out Dwayne Wade's newest Air Jordan signature shoe, "The Jordan Fly Wade". Contains a mostly white upper, contrasted by hits of black and white on the midfoot and accented with Infrared on the lining, laces and outsole. D3′s logo on the tongue, which involves a basketball with the number 3 between a pair of crosshairs, also appears in Infrared.
There has been no official release date as of yet but will be retailed at $220 a pair.

Waka Flocka Flame & Gucci Mane Announce Collaborative LP, "Ferrari Boys"
First Birdman and Lil Wayne, then Mack 10 and Glasses Malone, now S'Gucci and Flocka, and according to Brick Squad 1017's founder, it's "just so aggressive."
Brick Squad 1017's found Gucci Mane and most successful protege, Waka Flocka Flame have announced plans of a collaborative album. While the pair did not appear on each other's 2010 albums, The Appeal: Georgia's Most Wanted and Flockaveli respectively, they have announced an upcoming full-length, The Ferrari Boys.
Billboard.com reported the upcoming album today, in preparation for Gucci Mane's March 22 retail mixtape, Mr. Zone 6. "The songs are so clever, the beats are so slammin', and the lyrics are just so aggressive," Gucci told Billboard.
There's so much energy that we bring to the studio. Nobody's gonna be able to top this album that me and Waka are coming out with."
Earlier this month, Young Money's Jae Millz revealed that Brick Squad and YM have a collaborative mixtape in the works.
Lil Wayne Unveils Release Date For 'Tha Carter IV'
Weezy confirms a release date for the fourth installment to the Carter series and says the album is already finished. "Tha Carter IV is done," he said. "All they need to do is tell Tez [Wayne's manager] to stop sitting on it. Tez, stop sitting on Tha Carter IV and put the album out," he called out jokingly to his manager.
"May 16, believe that," Wayne confirmed. "It can come out tomorrow 'cause I'm so finished…Tha Carter IV will be dropping May 16. If you're not doing anything, do me."
Wayne is currently traveling the U.S. on his "I Am Music II" Tour.

50 Cent Explains His Evolution As An Actor + Video
After plenty of tough-guy roles, 50 Cent says he had to create his own character in "Things Fall Apart" to get outside of his comfort zone. As far back as his days playing an extra in the Onyx music video, “React,” 50 Cent has always essentially portrayed the same character—the cliché, no-nonsense tough guy. Even with the commercial success of Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which grossed over $12 million during its opening weekend, 50 Cent played an exaggerated version of himself. His decision to go by his government name of Curtis Jackson for movie roles hints at a desire to improve his acting chops, and 50 says he’s been learning from some A-list co-stars.“I had a really blessed situation,” 50 recently told NBC’s Peter Bailey. “I’ve been able to work with the likes of Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino in Righteous Kill. I worked with Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Biel in Home of the Brave…it feels like I’m just going up.
The film Things Fall Apart, which 50 co-wrote and stars in, was inspired by one of 50’s childhood friends who died of cancer. He says the story both somewhat mirrors the experience and gives him the opportunity to move to a different genre.
“It’s the first time I’ve been in a family drama,” 50 added. “If you’re going to act, you have to be something that’s outside of what’s comfortable for you.”
As an actor, 50’s newfound diversity may be short-lived. His next role in Blood Out, sees him portraying the character Hardwick, who has to face off with a rogue cop out for revenge.

Forbes Lists Hip Hop's Richest, With Jay-Z & Diddy Competing For Top
Jay-Z and Diddy go neck and neck for the top spot again, with no one else in sightFor years now Sean Combs and Shawn Carter have duked it out for the title of Hip Hop's wealthiest. With a $25 million advantage, Diddy takes the crown for now. Forbes listed "Hip Hop's Wealthiest Artists" and provided the current top five with Diddy and Hov far ahead of the pack.

As Barnes, 50 plays the role of a top-tier college football player who is stricken with cancer. Prior to playing the scrawny version of Barnes, who was presumably undergoing radiation treatment and/or chemotherapy, 50 portrays a dreadlocked version of the lead character. According to Fif, a personal friend with cancer inspired the story. Things Fall Apart is one of several films created under 50 Cent’s Cheetah Vision imprint—part of a $200 million joint venture with Lions Gate.
By attempting to transform himself from a 35-year-old to a Heisman hopeful in his early 20’s, can 50 Cent increase his acting profile? So far, according to Metacritic.com, which averages dozens of individual movie ratings from top critics, 50 Cent’s last three theatrical releases scored an average of 41 out of a possible 100. 50 briefly spoke about the movie at the Miami International Film Festival.
“I hope people get a chance to get to see how excited I am about challenging myself in different ways,” 50 explained. “Because it’s not an action film—it’s a family drama—I was advised not to do it.”

UPDATE (3/10/11): Rick Ross along with new additions Pill,Wale, Meek Mill and the rest of what Maybach Music Group is calling their “Power Circle” will get a chance to test their collective selling power when the compilation album Self Made is released on May 24. Over the weekend, Ross announced via Twitter that a compilation was in the works. As the week has progressed again, Ross secured a date to coincide with his latest single—a reworking of Travis Porter’s “Make It Rain” featuring Wale.
After first dismissing the idea in an interview with rapradar.com, Ross later revealed via MMG's Twitter account that his collective would work on an album together.

Last June when Lil Wayne was still behind bars Drake talked about the Young Money emcees plans to make an album together. Not much has been said of the idea since Wayne's release, but yesterday Weezy assured MTV that the album was coming.
"That right there, that has always been in the making," Wayne told Sway. "We've always been in the studio, we've always been having conversations about 'let's do something together, let's do an album together.'"
The delay at this point is Wayne's other obligations; his solo album, Like Father, Like Son 2 with Baby and the T-Wayne project with T-Pain. Obligations that Drake wants to respect, according to Wayne. For the full interview, watch below.

Album Review: Saigon "The Greatest Story Never Told"
As proven by his venerable mixtape past, Saigon's ability to maneuver through various topics becomes his best asset on The Greatest Story Never Told.
While Saigon’s plight with the music industry is surely not a special case, it is still a revealing source of the intricate flaws that accompany being signed to a major label. Shelved as an artist due to marketing issues and unable to procure proper liberation from Atlantic Records, the New York rapper born Brian Carenard found himself shackled to a diminishing Rap career, a notion that was all too familiar for the former prison inmate. Five years later and finally off the label at the ripe age of 33, Saigon hopes to capture in one debut album what his peers have done in three to four releases with The Greatest Story Never Told.
As proven by his venerable mixtape past, Saigon’s ability to maneuver through various topics becomes his best asset on The Greatest Story Never Told. Whether it’s his disdain for the streets that paved a rugged road to the slammer on “Enemies,” or his aim to set a better impression for the youth with “Believe It,” Saigon’s convictions over enticing beats reveal a man with a lot on his mind and the right medium to display these thoughts. Taking his criticism a step further, Saigon launches a verbal assault on corrupt pastors who coerce their congregation for offerings that they in turn pocket for their own good will. Channeling memories from the past, he rhymes, “We was fucking depending on Section 8 / But always had something to put in your collection plate / It was always so strange, it was odd / To see my mom scratching up change to give it to God / I think we all knew, nobody saying shit / You was using that to pay your car payments / We was mother fucking paying your mortgage / We was living in the projects you know we couldn’t afford it.”

Rick Ross reveals that Maybach Music Group will be releasing a compilation project
Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group, boasting new additions such as Wale, Meek Mill and Pill, will be releasing a compilation album in the future.
After first dismissing the idea in an interview with rapradar.com, Ross later revealed via MMG's Twitter account that his collective would work on an album together.
Though not specifying a release date, the tweet did reveal that the album would be titled Selfmade.

Hip Hop legend Snoop Dogg and rising star Wiz Khalifa have more in common than just a love of marijuana. The Long Beach and Pittsburgh natives have gone from mere collaborations to making movies together. "We created a movie called 'High School,' created like six songs, and we're looking forward to dropping that later on this year," Snoop told MTV.

Video: Lupe talks about his five year plan, and being banned from blogs
When asked where he sees himself in five years, Lupe had a surprising answer. "Hopefully I'll be out of my traditional record deal, the record deal I'm in right now. Probably living in Africa somewhere, making rock music," he said. When pressed if he was serious Lupe laughed and said, "Who knows man? Who knows? I don't know."
The Chi-Town emcee then elaborated on his wish to be free of Atlantic Records. "Yeah, yeah. I would rather be independent, I would take that," he said, before adding that independence isn't the easy way out. "Independent comes with its own set of consequences, so that takes preparation. The same way you prepare to come into a record deal, you need to prepare to come into an indie situation because there is a lot of things you're going to lose taking that route."
Reese suggested he could just get on iTunes and promote through the blogs, Lupe wasn't so sure. "Yeah you could, you could. But I'm banned from half the Hip Hop blogs on the Internet (laughs)," he said, referring to his backlash against blogs for leaking his songs. "I confronted them, I called them out. They felt I confronted them in a very physical way, which I did not."
